Microsoft’s E3 2018 conference started off with an intriguing look at the world and setting of Halo Infinite, the next game in 343 Industries’ long running shooter series.
Instead of a trailer filled with explosions and copious amounts of violence, viewers and E3 attendees were treated to an idyllic landscape full of life and strange creatures.
As the camera shows off some impressive vistas and strange stone columns the trailer seems almost more in line with the tone of Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Eventually the camera slowly backs up to reveal the Master Chief standing with his helmet to his side. However, it appears his helmet and and armor are pristine perhaps implying that this may not be a sequel, or it might not even be the Master Chief at all.
The game is confirmed for PC, which is a surprise, while of course premiering on the Xbox One series of consoles.
No release date was given, however it’s a safe bet that more will be revealed in the coming weeks and months.
