At Microsoft’s E3 2018 press briefing, From Software showed a trailer and gave a full name for its new game. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The game was revealed and teased originally at 2017 Video Game Awards.
Set in what appears to be feudal Japan, players will control a samurai with a false arm. Story details are still sparse.
Gameplay for the new entry will retain the classic “Souls-like” style of precise timing and pattern recognition. One big new change is the traversal mechanics. They will allow for more verticality and versatility.
These same tools for traversal will play a role in combat with the ability to hook onto enemies and leap into them.
A tentative release date of 2019 has been revealed, although nothing more specific was shared. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be available for Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
