Sony today announced the release date for the much anticipated God of War from Sony’s Santa Monica Studio for the PlayStation 4. Coming in the beginning of the second quarter of 2018, April 20.

This new entry in the God of War franchise will see the series protagonist Kratos move from the traditional Greek mythology the game was so well known for into the Norse-lands.

God of War will retain that level of visceral blood soaked combat, however the perspective will shift to a new 3rd person over the shoulder look similar to recent major Sony releases.

Kratos will be tested in more than just combat in this entry as Kratos makes the journey with his son, Atreus. Atreus will learn from Kratos not just in combat but also survival which looks to add a more emotional layer to this entry.
